Context
Public lighting expenditures account for an average 40% of the electricity bill, so that local authorities are trying to assess the savings that they could realise by resorting to innovative technologies.
Description
The computer software developed is designed to provide the local authorities with the data they need to shore up their decision. Running with Excel, once the characteristics of the existing installation have been entered, it helps calculate the energy saving that can be obtained by reliable technical solutions available on the market, as well as their return on investment.
Benefits
The software, operational since November 2008, has enabled Citéos to boost its credibility with elected officials and to stand out from the local competition, focused on single-technique or single-brand solutions. In early 2009, the software helped investigate the best alternatives for reducing the public lighting energy expenditures of five communities in the Loir-et-Cher and Cher districts, and to sign a three-year investment contract with one of them.
